Advanced Implantology Masterclass

For dentists who already place implants and want to take on more complex cases with genuine confidence, this three-day masterclass covers immediate-load protocols, full-arch rehabilitation, and sites where the anatomy makes things harder — all at a pace that lets you absorb and practise each technique properly.

Training, people

Service description

A three-day intensive for dentists who already place implants and want to expand into more demanding cases — immediate-load protocols, full-arch rehabilitation, and sites with compromised bone. The format is deliberately unhurried: each technique is demonstrated in full before participants attempt it, and the instructor-to-participant ratio stays at 1:4 throughout the hands-on sessions.

Who belongs in this room

This course is designed for dentists who are already placing implants independently and want to expand the range of cases they can handle in their own practice. We recommend arriving with at least 30 independently placed implants behind you — enough that the basic surgical workflow feels familiar and your attention can go toward the more nuanced decisions this course addresses.

If you completed the Garvey Implant Placement Fundamentals course, an alumni rate applies automatically. But this masterclass also welcomes dentists who trained elsewhere, provided they meet the experience threshold. The goal is a room where everyone is ready to push their skills forward rather than revisit foundations.

The three-day structure

Each technique is demonstrated in full before any participant attempts it. That is not a small distinction — it means you watch the instructor work through the complete sequence, including the moments where adjustments are made, before you pick up an instrument yourself. The instructor-to-participant ratio stays at 1:4 throughout every hands-on session.

Day one focuses on immediate implant placement and provisionalization, including the decision framework for selecting appropriate cases. Day two moves into full-arch treatment planning, surgical guide use, and bone-density assessment. Day three covers cone-beam CT interpretation in depth and includes the cadaveric dissection sessions, where participants work through anatomically complex sites at their own pace with the instructor alongside them.

What is included in the three days

The course includes hands-on fresh-tissue cadaveric dissection sessions, a cone-beam CT interpretation workshop, full-arch treatment planning exercises using the All-on-X concept, and — where scheduling permits — live patient observation. Every element is designed to move from understanding to application within the same session rather than separating theory and practice across different days.

After the course, each participant receives a post-course case consultation call of thirty minutes, available within ninety days of completing the workshop. This is an opportunity to discuss a real case from your own practice with your instructor before you proceed — a safety net that many participants say changes how confidently they approach their first complex case.

Bringing your own cases

Participants are encouraged to bring two or three anonymized CBCT scans from their own practice. Each evening, time is set aside for group case review — a structured but informal session where the instructor and the group work through the clinical decisions together. Many past participants describe these evening sessions as the most valuable part of the entire course.

This is not a passive exercise. You will be asked to articulate your thinking, and the group will offer perspectives you may not have considered. Because the cohort is small, every case gets genuine attention rather than a brief comment before moving on. You leave with a clearer sense of how to think through a complex case, not just how to execute a technique.

Pricing and registration

Registration is available at an early rate for those who book at least six weeks before the course date, a standard rate, and a reduced rate for alumni of the Garvey Implant Placement Fundamentals course. All materials, specimens, and facility access are included — no additional costs are added after you register.

The course runs with a maximum of eight participants in total, and the hands-on sessions maintain a 1:4 instructor-to-participant ratio throughout. Spaces fill quickly because the cohort size is genuinely limited. If you are considering attending, registering early both secures your place and reduces your cost.

Safety, specimens, and the learning environment

Fresh-tissue pig jaw models are used throughout the hands-on and dissection sessions. All specimens are sourced from a licensed supplier and handled in full compliance with Alberta Health Services biosafety guidelines. A safety briefing is given on the first morning, and all protective equipment is provided — you do not need to bring anything beyond your clinical curiosity.

The Garvey Oral Surgery facility in Red Deer includes fresh-tissue dissection stations and a dedicated implant planning suite. The environment is calm and unhurried by intention. No one is moved on to the next step before they are ready, and the instructor is available throughout each session — not just during formal demonstration periods.
